Pointy Half-Moons

Hola lovelies!
Hope everyone’s having a lovely week so far.

I have a lovely polish to show you today. I've been dying to use it for a few weeks now, but I couldn't decide on what nail art to use with them, as I didn't want to cover it up too much with anything. I thought a half-moon was a good way to show it off, and went for a pointy one for a bit of variety.

Glitter Sandwich

Happy Sunday y’all!
I hope everyone’s had a nice weekend. Mine was pretty quiet, filled with food shopping and baking disasters! I attempted to bake these lovely brownies that my friend made during the week – they were sweet potato brownies, and they were delicious (they sound gross, but they really aren't!). Unfortunately, my attempt was miserable, and instead of lovely, spongy brownies I got a hard, dry slab of gack. Oh well, I can at least try them again (or just get my friend to make me some more! :p)

Anywinkle, onto the nails! Today, I have a lovely glitter sandwich and some accent stamping to show you. Glitter sandwiching, if you don’t know, is when you sandwich a layer of glitter polish between layers of another polish. This works best with jelly-finish polishes, as they are usually quite transparent after one coat, so you can see the glitter shine through.

You also get to see Mr Righty today too! This is because I kept smudging my glitter sandwich fingers on my Lefty, and the stamping on Righty is better too. Mr Dominant-Hand seemingly sabotaged my paint job to get his 5 minutes in the limelight, methinks! :p

The lovely red jelly I used for this is Chelsea Cherry from NYC’s Expert Last range. I applied two coats of this on all my nails, and when that was dry, I applied one dabbed coat of The Huntsman, a gold glitter topper from Essence’s Snow White collection, onto my index, middle and pinky fingers. Once that dried (after a few smudging disasters and an eventual coat of Seche Vite to dry the damn things), I applied one more coat of Chelsea Cherry on top. For my thumb and ring fingers, I decided to add a stamp for a bit of variety (and because I can’t leave well alone). I used a cute paw print stamp from Cheeky plate CH27, and stamped with Gold Save The Queen from Rimmel’s Metal Rush set. It wasn't a great polish to stamp with, in hindsight, but in the right light, it changes from a pinky gold, to a greeny one, and I imagine it could be more noticeable on a paler colour. It’s nice though, I’ll have to find another day to try it as a full background colour. I topped everything off with one coat of NYC Grand Central Station and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails, to seal it all of and make it super shiny.

I wasn't really able to capture the glitter very well in the photos - I'm still trying to figure out the best way for taking my pictures, and the glitter was very subtle under the NYC red. It was a nice effect on the nail though, a nice flash of sparkle without being in your face. I really liked it.

Well, I'm off to enjoy the rest of my weekend; I have a nail job in mind, and I'm excited to try it out, even though it's the hardest one I've done so far, and I'm pretty sure it'll be as disastrous as my brownies!

Thanks for reading!

Ciao for now x

Pastel Cloud

So, the withdrawal symptoms from my polish buying ban are really starting to kick in now (the Essence stands having lots of cool new shades is not helping at all!), so I’m starting to use at least two new polishes in each mani in an attempt to get the ban lifted as early as possible.

My friends got me a 5 piece UV nail polish set from W7 for my birthday (thanks guys!), so I seized the opportunity to use all 5 at once to put a huge dent in the untried list!

I spent a while trying to figure out how to use all 5 in the one paint job, but eventually remembered that I’d been dying to try out this cloud style manicure that I found on Nailside for ages, and thought that this would be a good way to use them all. I varied the colours on each finger, so each nail would have a different combination on them. My favourite nail is my thumb, followed by my middle finger. The colours used are: Hip Hop (Yellow), Disco (Peach), Clubbing (Pink), Dance (Blue), and Rave (Purple).

Please forgive the messiness around my cuticles, for some reason I did my clean up before topcoating this one, so my topcoat is all over my fingers! I topcoated with one coat of NYC Grand Central Station and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails in case you were wondering.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a UV light to try these under, so I’m not sure how good the glowy aspect of these polishes are, but hopefully I’ll get to use them again when I know I’ll be going out!

Thanks for reading!

Zebra Print

Happy Friday people!
I hope everyone has some good plans for the weekend. I’ll be at home spending some time with the family, looking forward to it, it should be fun.

Anywho, to the nails! I was feeling the need to try out some animal prints this week, so I decided to try a zebra print since I hadn't tried one before.

Wearing My Hearts On My Nails!

Happy Valentine’s Day peeps!!

I couldn’t let a festive day go by without decorating my nails in tribute. After much deliberation, I decided to just cover my nails with some simple heart shapes. I took my inspiration from this awesome art done by Chalkboard Nails (My favourite nail blog - Sarah’s swatches and nail art are amazing! And I’m jealous of her lovely nails!), but switched it up a bit and went with hearts instead of lips.

Dots 'n' Bows

I was in the mood for doing something a little cuter on my nails this week, and I couldn’t decide on whether to do polka dots or practice some more stamping, so I decided, “Hey, I’ve got 10 nails, I can just do both!”. So I did J

Doodle-Stamp

If you've been following my posts so far, you will know I currently have quite a large list of untried polishes (currently numbered at 55 polishes). So, I have imposed a polish-buying ban on myself until this list has at least halved (currently 6 polishes down from the original 61, woop!). To assist with the polish cold-turkey, I decided to treat myself to a new set of stamping plates. I decided on a 2012 set by Cheeky, which I got from Amazon here.

Stripey Stripes

For today’s mani, I decided to go for something simple-ish, and remembered that I hadn’t used my striping tape in a while. So, I broke that out and did a simple double-V shape with some more of my untried polishes.

Details and another picture after the jump!
